Thatcher sneered slightly, "What would you have me do runt? I couldnt continue fighting him. Not with this bum leg anyway." That wasnt true and he knew it. He could have kept fighting, but it would have cost him a great deal. Thatcher just kept thinking that if he had gone full out against Oki there would have been a death. Whether it was his or Thatcher's. The beta shook his head, "You think i dont hear the way you all talk about me? I know you dont want me as alpha and thats fine by me. I dont want to be your alpha. I was merely protecting the spot for a wolf that could fill Thunder's place." Thatcher shrugged. "At this point i could careless. If Oki drives this pack in to teh ground he will have no one else to blame. I will no longer take the heat. My job as a steward is over."

Solgun was feeling a bit energetic after the fight. He looked around and spotted Meppe. He quietly snuck up behind her and pounced on her back. "Hey Meppe!" He said. "How's it going?"
Solgun stepped away from Meppe so she could get up. "Did you see that fight between Oki and Thatcher? It was pretty close wasn't it?"

Thatcher felt a little uncormfortable aroudn the young black and white she wolf so he gave a short sigh and stood. "Why dont you go back to camp. Like i said yesterday, i am not the one that can keep you company." Thatcher shifted and stood on his legs but almost gasped at the pain in his twisted ankle. Yet his face reamined as deadpan as ever. He turned and limped out of the glade to spend more time by himself. He just wanted to focus on what the future held now, but as he lmiped on his mind cleared. No imprtant thoughts passed in his mind as he just remained as a body driftinf in and out of the trees.

Meppe let a friendly snarl escape from her throat as she batted at Solgun, her best friend at camp. [AU: let's be best friends XD] Her usually icy eyes were now a soft baby blue with joy. Solgun was never threatened by her appearance and he was great to talk and wrestle with. After he let her recover, she sighed.
"Yes, I did," she answered in a solemn growl. "It was quite harsh." She didn't add her secret affection for Thatcher. That would make things rather awkward.

Oki lowered his muzzle, ending the howl. He turned to the pack and said, "Thank you, for accepting me as your new Alpha. I will do my best to protect you all and will be the best leader I can." He grinned, then padded out of camp. He sniffed, and found Thatcher's trail easily, for the wolf had not been going quickly. He bounded along the trail, and stopped before he reached the glade where Thatcher was. "Thatcher?" He announced his presence just before stepping into the glade. "I promised you that I would be a compassionate leader, and I do apologize for your leg. I didn't mean for any injuries. Although it would be best for you to get your leg checked up on. I'm sure some wolf knows enough about twisted paws to help you..."

Thatcher heard Oki's voice from coming from the glade. He hadnt gotten to far from it. He turned his smildering eyes toward his new alpha. "Compassionate? Well you can be that all you want but will you give me time to lick my own wounds? Do you understand what just happened? I have been beaten and slightly disgraced. Not that it matters to much but for every beta that has gotten in to a fight, after they are beaten they need a little time to themselves. Away from the wolf that just beat them. So if you were truely compassionate you would understand these things and leave me to contimpalte what i must do now." With that Thatcher turned again and limped further away. The new alpha's kind words rolled of of him like water did on a ducks back. They had no meaning to him, he didnt care in the slightest. He was just going by tradition at this point.

Oki's eyes narrowed. "If that's how you want it then. Go lick your wounds. See if someone else will offer to help you. And good luck." He turned around and trotted back to camp. So much for getting Thatcher on his side. It looked like nothing would please the grumpy wolf. He sighed, as he entered the camp again, looking from wolf to wolf.

Thatcher listened to him leave. As he focused on listening, his ear throbbed from the wound he had. He resisted growling and slowly limped away. Breathing in deeply he closed his eyes slightly and let the forest move him along. He walked in and out of a haze. What was with everyone thinking that he couldnt take care of himself? Why did he need his alpha warrying about him? He could take care of himself. The one that really needed to worry was him. NOw that he had an alpha he had extra responsibility. He had to make sure that Oki remained alive. That is why he preferred not having an alpha. In his place as beta no one had to worry abuot him since he was not the leader. He could take care of himself and make sure that everyone else's lives were going smoothly. Now that Oki was alpha he had to make sure that nothing happened to him, even at the cost of his own life. Not that it mattered that much to him. It was the greatest honor to sacrifce your life to keep your alpha alive... but he would have rather given his life for his old friend Thunder than Oki.

Raissa was back in camp when Oki returned. She didn't want to seem like a pest, but she needed a say in this matter. Padding up to Oki, she bowed her head respectively and murmured, "Oki, I know I am merely a pup, but may I have a private discussion with you?" Her eyes were hopeful as she glaced up from the ground, even though she couldn't see. Most wolves were setting off on their own thing, but since Raissa was blind, she often stayed in camp. Then her head rose and her voice was a tad stronger. "As a blind wolf, I have a different prespective of this situation of you being the new Alpha, Oki. I know you have what you need to be one... But are you sure? Are you sure that the responibility and power is ready to be rested upon your young shoulders? Are you ready for everything that shall come your way? From a seperating clan, or maybe something more? Oki, listen. I'm not contradicting your power, but maybe Thatcher was right... Maybe... maybe it is too early for you. We all know no one could take Thunder's place... and... you don't seem ready. You seem... too uncontrolled. Too... unknowing. I may be a pup, but one that sits in camp, watching others. I bid you luck, Oki. In this situation, I am actually siding with the grumpy Beta." Bowing her head good bye, she bounded out of camp in search of Thatcher once again. She needed his help... Badly. Raissa wanted to fight. Wanted to learn. And the only one that would probably be stupid (or cold) enough to agree, would be Thatcher, or so she thought.
