Yvonne had locked up the last of her baggage and secured it with several spells she had brought from Winding Circle. Stretching her slightly cramped back, the girl was about to head out the door when laughter and an angry voice reached her ears. Her eyes narrowed. Now what? Wasn't it enough that everyone challenged her wherever she went? But now the woman had to go and invite some friends--drunken, probably--to the Inn. Yvonne shook her head, determined to give the lady a piece of her mind.

"Lady," she began firmly before she rounded the corner. "I really must protest--oh. Who're you?" Her eyes rested on the small girl. They rested there for a minute before they strayed, landing on the woman behind the counter.

"Tha' lady here was jus' 'bout to leave, righ'?" the woman said with a smirk, glancing down disdainfully at Vivian.

"I really don't see what the problem is," Yvonne said mildly. "She's not causing any trouble, is she?"

"But," the woman started, about to defend herself before she paused. "Hey. Why're you still here? I thought that you were only here to put away your master's baggage." Her tone turned insolent, remembering that she was only talking to a mage's servant.

"I am my own master," Yvonne said loftily, drawing herself up.

The woman snorted disbelievingly. "What is it with you shrimps and pretendin' ta be mages? Shoo!"

"You want proof?" Her voice was icy, and her gaze was level. Reaching into her blouse, Yvonne drew out the medallion. The woman stepped forward. She turned the metal over in her hand, squinting.

"Looks like the real thing," the woman finally consented, stepping back. "But without magic I can't be sure. How do I know it's not a forgery?"

"If I had enough money to make a forgery, do you think I'd really be staying in a place like this?" the youngest of the Fatima family asked scathingly. The woman drew back, stung.

"Well, wha' 'bout you?" she demanded, turning back to the stranger with a glower, doing her best to salvage her pride. "Where's your medallion?"

Vivian reached down her shirt and pulled it out with one swift motion. Her violet eyes flaming as she looked up at her. "Now may I have the key?"she asked her voice angry and she was about to blow. After she looked at it she put it back in her shirt and took the key from the woman's hand and turned away to the girl still slightly mad. SHe was simmering down now as she walked towards her room. 203 it said ont he key and she looked at the girl "Do you mind helping me find the room?"

The woman said something under her breath and Vivian whirled around "got something to say?"

Yvonne glared at the woman for a second before she whirled on her foot and walked to the stairs. To the girl, she said, "Sure. I'm Freya, from Winding Circle. Who're you?" Turning the subject back to the rooms, she said, "And the rooms are this way." Quieter, so that only the Lightsbridge girl could hear her, she muttered, "They're also not worth the money we paid for them. The locks are pathetic--I hope you brought some anti-theft measures. Mine is, anyway."

Yvonne nodded and continued up the stairs, pausing once to see if the girl was still following her. She had forgotten her mage kit in the room--idiotic of her, but she didn't always need it--so she needed to visit her room again anyway. As she walked up the stairs, another lodger--probably the only other one in the city--brushed past her, glancing only once at her before shoving past and stumping down to the woman, to whom he said gruffly, "Here." There was a clatter of coins before he lowered his voice and began chattering.

The girl was obviously curious, so she enticed a string of wind to carry the conversation to her. Unfortunately, the efforts were for nothing as all she heard was, "...night," before the man stomped off.

He's got a bad leg, Yvonne noted absently as he disappeared through the door.

"My name is Vivian or Viv and I'm the youngest member of the Jade family. I am also a Lightsbridge mage. Sorry you caught me when I was in such a grouchy mood. I do hope your don't form your opion about me based on what you saw back there."she said in a happier mood. Her Violet eyes where happy and full of life now but her cheeks were flushed alittle.

"Haha," Yvonne laughed. "I was acting like a complete donkey down there too." The girl was in a good mood at the moment, having vented her irritation on someone. They arrived at the series of rooms. The girl pointed to the one right next to her's and said, "Your's is over here. We got the odd ones--the better ones. They're facing towards the sea, instead of the road."

Yvonne nodded as her hand rested on her doorknob. "I need to get my mage kit--forgot it," she said sheepishly. She paused. "Are you for going around after you're done settling in? I have to go around and map out the surroundings, anyway, to see where the damage is worst at. We could find lunch, after, too, if you wouldn't mind." With that, the girl swept into her room and snatched her bag off the bed, where she had left it.

Vivian smiled and said "I would like that very much" she carried her stuff in and put it away and changed clothes. She put on a cute yellow dress, some brown shoes and fixed her hair before putting spells on her things to keep out unwanted guest. After she pinned back her bangs she walked out her mage kit hanging from the belt around her waist.

OOC: What time frame is it?

Yvonne hung the kit crosswise across her body. The kit was no featherweight, but after having used it for so long, she had become accustomed to the weight. She walked out the door, but not before she set a breeze on the door the prevent anyone from opening it. She hoped the window would be safe, but after a pause she used a dab of magic to get a breeze to hold that shut, too. Exiting, she found Vivian standing there.

"Hello," Yvonne said again, smiling politely. "I guess that means we're off!" As they walked down the stairs, she asked, "Do you want to see the seaside first? I've heard the pirates are drawn to these places like flies to a carcass--I just want to make sure there're no pirates anywhere near by."

ooc; Time frame...?
-is a bit slow- o3o

IC:
Vivian's smile flickered but then she said "Pirate huh? Might as well I mean we are bound to run into them sometime. Atleast it wont be a surprise if we find them." she started to take lead the way but realized she had no idea where she was going "Why don't you lead"she said laughing a nervous laugh and running her fingers through her hair. Feeling slightly useless she followed alittle behind the girl. "So what's your story?" she asked "If you don't mind me asking"

ooc;; ah, sorry.
it's still more medieval-ish. girls still wear dresses and most of the things that go with them (most of them, anyway) and guys still wear tunics, breeches, and such. |D

bic;;

"Pirates." Yvonne said the word like it was a curse; although the girl personally had not had to deal with pirates, she had heard tales of what they did. She sighed and watched as Vivian slowed down. Tilting her head, the younger girl slowed down to match pace and glanced up ahead. "Well, we're probably going to check out the coves, first; I'm supposing that a town like this wouldn't have a spell net like we did at Winding Circle."

The two approached the beach... if it could be called a beach. There wasn't much sand, instead breaking from sea to only a meter or two of rocky sand before becoming a rocky maze of sea water and various tide pools. Pursing her lips, Yvonne slipped off her shoes and left them where it was dry. Hitching up her skirts--she had managed to skive off a few layers, but there was still enough to give her hands plenty to do--the girl stepped onto the slick rocks.

She wobbled dangerously for a few seconds before regaining her balance and taking a few quick steps further down the shoreline. Yvonne tilted her head and considered the other girl's question. "I guess that's a story that can wait until during lunch. For now, I'd really like to know if there're pirates. I think there's a drier place where we can check it out later...." Her voice trailed off as she tired to peer around the cliff that jutted out in front of her, neatly cutting off her view of the shoreline further down.

Yvonne felt slightly guilty for trying to avoid the question, but what could she do? She really didn't want to give out her life's story to someone she had just met. Besides, she had learned that many didn't take well to her often-times too descriptive story of her past: Sure, she liked to elaborate on things that people liked to skim over, but wasn't that life? Luck sometimes seemed pretty fond of sticking people's faces into holes and keeping them there for an uncalled for ammount of time, and Yvonne was doing that justice.

In her humble and often wrong opinion.

"Okay I understand you don't have to tell me if you don't wont to it won't hurt my feelings or anything"she told her truthfully. "I was just wondering." Vivian didn't talk anymore she focused on not falling in. She couldn't swim and really didn't want to have to learn now. Her fingers where getting sweaty from holding up her dress but she knew she had to get over it. "Coves"she repeated after a few minutes. "Where are they?"
