Are you scaring them all away with your handsome grin? Lucia thought back. It was better than texting. She got to hear his voice, he got to hear hers, it was almost as if they were right next to each other. I know I'm freaking my customers out. I mean, even the cashier is weirded out. He's suspicious. Thinks it's some kind of alley-stranger who I'm never going to meet again but I'm head-over-heels with. I'd say he's worried about me. Aww, talk about brotherly love. she laughed, raising her head to look out the window. The storm clouds had finally parted, leaving to blue skies and cloud shreds floating by. Another storm was on the way, but the sun was also welcome for now. Anyway, how's your boss? Still mad about leaving work?

"That was not comforting either!"
"It is the way of the Creed. Usually our deaths are violent but quick."
Kayden shook his head, then realized she couldn't see him and laughed to himself. Nah, she's okay. She said that I've been reliable until that very moment, so she let it slide, she knows I'm dependable in the future. He laughed into her mind. What a crazy lady, huh? he joked. Then he thought of something. Are you sure that cashier's worry about you is just brotherly love? he asked seriously.
Um... Lucia was taken aback. why? an answer to her question formed in her head, but she shoved it down until Kayden gave her the real answer. You don't think he...

I don't know, Kayden thought icily. I heard his mind, and all he can think about is you..."Oh, I hope Lucia's feeling better, I wonder what she's so happy about..." et cetera. Just look at him, can't you tell he's distracted? Kayden's eyes were narrowed; luckily he wasn't dealing with a customer at the moment. Ohh, I'm keeping one eye on HIS mind, he better not dare... he thought to her viciously.
Lucia almost literally stepped back. Hang on, calm down Kayden! Are you sure? She stole a glance at Ryan and saw that his gaze was riveted on her, even though he had a customer waiting. She tilted her head to the side in a jerky motion, and, as if in a daze, he turned to serve the customer. She had a blush covering her cheeks. Wanting to sink into the middle of the floor, she prepared the next drink, and thought coherently again. Is he...er....thinking anything weird?

Kayden gritted his teeth. Only just about you, your name, over and over...EW! JERK! How DARE he! he suddenly yelled into her mind. He slammed his fist down onto the counter and his coworker gave him a surprised stare. "Sorry, just remembered something," Kayden lied in a mutter. "Dude, maybe you should go restock the back room," his fellow employee suggested. Kayden nodded and strode indignantly to the back room. That is SO not okay of him. No way. Okay, if you ever, EVER talk to him again, I think I'm going to have to hurt you, he thought angrily to Lucia.
Ah...I have to talk to him you know...I mean... She cringed at the violent yells that she was hearing. I have to know what drinks to make somehow. Um...maybe I should pull him over at break and tell him I'm not interested? She didn't want to anger Kayden further, so she made the next drink quietly.

Kayden was breathing hard as he took inventory on a clipboard. Yes, that would be good. Make him SURE that you're not interested. It doesn't even matter to me that I really like you right now - He was too angry to be embarrassed at this admittance - but I wouldn't want ANYONE to get involved with that guy. That's like, a danger to your health! Man, that is not cool. That's got to be illegal.
Ah...I'd ask, but I don't think I want to know. She watched as asecond barista came out, on duty as well. It was easier having two people make the drinks. "Lucia! Break time! You too Ryan!" Another cashier had come out too. "Hey Ryan, can I talk to you for a minute?" Lucia asked as they both went behind the bar for their ten minute break. "Of course you can," he grinned, and she could almost see the dirty thought passing through his eyes. "A-are you...sizing me up?!" She was almost yelling. Ryan looked taken aback, he even took a few steps back. "N-no...nothing of the sort!" He shook his head quickly. "Good. 'Cause I'm in love," the last was stated simply. "W-what? Oh! Of course you are. It's hard not to be." He puffed out his chest, as if showing off. "With Kayden. From Hallmark." Ryan froze yet again, the shock being slow at leaving.

Kayden's eyes widened and he dropped the clipboard. You're WHAT? he thought in surprise to Lucia. HOW come you did not inform me of this? Can't I be the first one to know if someone's in love with me? You have to tell that SCUMPIECE first?! Come ON, Lucia! But he was laughing the whole way through.
