Painter felt the painkiller spreading through his system. He gave it a full minute, when he was absolutely sure he couldn't feel his paw, and began to transform, feeling his organs shift around with the same sense of vertigo that always accompanied it. A pinch of pain accompanied the transformation, something close to getting hit with a dart, from the wound, but it was much more preferable than the far worse pain which could have afflicted him had he not had painkiller. Once back in human form, in the enshrouding company of his familiar trench coat, Painter sagged against the wall, sitting down. Changing twice in one hour was fairly tiring. He would be fine in a few minutes.

ooc: hopefully tutey won't mind this...since she had to go..

Anya waited as Serenity cleaned her shoulder, pulled out the bullet, cleaned it again, then wrapped it in medical tape. She stretched it and knew it would be better in the morning. As serenity cleaned it, she couldn't help but think of Molly, 'where was she?' She thought to herself. And Jason? Where were they? Her mind, like it always has done, kept concluding the worst possible outcome to the situation. She feared that someone was going to walk up to her at any moment and tell her that they were captured. She would go mad, she knew that. I mean honestly, how could she live without them? Being on the same team brought them closer than anything. She shook her head. Horror books got to her head. All the time.

Serenity had finished with Anya and fixed up Painter's shoulder too. He had been resting with his head down, black hair hanging forward. From the way Anya was tensed up beside him, he could tell she was worried. There was no logical point in trying to comfort her, she'd only worry until they came home. But logic had failed where the heart had succeeded. Logic claimed that rebellion would be squashed, didn't it? Well, rebellion had succeeded in the Revolutionary war, and it would succeed now. "You know, they'll come home." Now that he was back in his human form, the microphone on his neck was deactivated. "Shepard always comes home, and he always brings everyone back. If they've been delayed, it could be because they're worried about you. Or they spotted agents and didn't want to take them on, taking a roundabout. Or agents are near their entrance. They don't want to expose it. There's all sorts of reasons for them to be delayed. But they'll come home. Shepard always does." The worry seemed to have reached Painter too. He had repeated that line, for the third time now. Shepard always comes home.

Anya looked over at him. "You're right...he...always does." Her mind was wrapped around his words, 'Maybe they're worried about you.' She always had to run off. "Painter, what if they can't find me? What if thats why they're worried." She stared straight ahead. Her voice blank, her head swimming with emotions. "I'm always using my ability to my advantage. I ran ahead because I didn't think we would run into anything. What if I made a mistake in doing so? What if they think I've been captured. Or worse, what if they've been captured?" She could feel worry coming off of Painter in small waves. She kept repeating his words in her head. 'Shepard always comes home..'

"If you hadn't left your team to help me and mine, I'd probably be dead now. They aren't captured, Shepard is smarter than that. The only way they'd be captured is if they had another ambush planned, but by the forces that were out there, it was quite obvious that they assumed we were one team, one who would not split up. I doubt Shepard has seen a single agent roaming the streets. He could have taken his team and hidden until things cooled down, waiting for a good chance to make a run for it. Don't worry about him. What use will you be if when he comes home, you're a worrying heap?" He looked her straight in the eyes, his black bangs hanging in front of them. "I know it's hard, but you have to hold down your worry for now. They'll come home. If they don't, Sarah will send a rescue party. She will not stand for a whole one of her elite teams to be captured."

Anya nodded. "You're right I'm sorry." She rubbed her eyes as if to wipe away her thoughts. They were okay. Jason was a great leader. He's smart enough to escape them. And she knew he would risk his life to save each and everyone of their team members. She looked over at Painter. "Thank you" she smiled. She looked straight ahead again. Jason probably would have scolded her for just moping about, and especially if he knew she was worried about him. She shook her head. Her team would come back. Safe and sound.

Painter rolled his eyes and shook his head. "It's what I'm here for, isn't it?" He looked up at the ceiling, staring at the wires running around, going down into each their separate room. "I wish I could see the stars again. Another sunset. That would be nice." He was talking to himself, as he usually did when he fazed out.

Anya glanced over. "Agreed. What I miss the most? The ocean. The sound of the waves and the smell of the salt? I'd give anything to go back there. Its been so long I don't even remember what it looks like." She sighed and stared at the ceiling with him. "I wish things didn't have to be like this. Its horrible. I haven't heard a bird, in so long. The outisde enviroment was something I always loved. Somewhere I would go all the time, just to sit under the sun and relax. I hate not being able to anymore.."

Painter sighed, "I guess that's life." He thought of his parents, who used to always play Revolutionary War with him when he was little, being the Brits and letting him win the war.
"Commander Warren," a voice on the intercoms drawled, "Please meet with Director Nighthawk in the main control room. Your mission's debriefing will be held and your next mission's details will be assigned." Painter stood up, sighing.
"Would you like to come with me?" He asked Anya, holding a hand out for her to take so she could stand up. He had bandages around his left arm, from the gunshot wound.

Anya shrugged, sure. She reached up and took his hand in hers. He pulled her up. She noticed how tiny her hand was compared to his. And his was so rough, yet at the same time they were very gentle. She pulled her hand out of his grasp quickly. Praying he hadn't noticed her pause. From the look of him, he hadn't. So she followed him closely behind. Focusing on calming herself from all the different emotions running through her head.
