LeafPaw was in the medicine cat's den, sorting herbs. She had learned that poppy seed helped ease cats in shock and help them sleep. They were small, black seeds, SongPool had told her, and she had used them to help SilverWing get to sleep the day before. SilverWing had been on a late night patrol, and they had fought a few foxes. SilverWing had come to her after the patrol had returned, and she bore many scratches. She was laying down with the rest of the hurt patients. EmberPaw had also been one of them. He was asleep at the moment, and he seemed peaceful. SilverWing and EagleFlight were sharing tounges as friends, and they both were discussing what they'd do about the fox that got away. She knew all of this because she had heard the sounds of EmberPaw's snoring, and the smooth rasping of tounges on fur.
LeafPaw went and examined their scratches by scent and how much they had swollen. Right after that, she heard SongPool move around in her nest. "Good morning, LeafPaw. Looks like you're working again," SongPool said after she yawned.
"Yeah. EmberPaw is sleeping, and EagleFlight is sharing tounges with SilverWing. That reminds me, there's a Gathering tonight. Can I go?"
"Sure. You've been working hard, and you deserve it. I'll tell RainStar," SongPool said as she left LeafPaw to finish sorting the herbs.
LeafPaw moved the poppy seeds to where they belonged, and she started to make sure all of the yarrow was fresh. She knew that SongPool put yarrow onto the deep gash that EmberPaw had in his shoulder. She picked up a few leaves and padded over to him. She took the yarrow and cobweb mix off of his shoulder, and applied a new pultice of yarrow. She carefully put cobweb on top, making sure to snag it in his fur to keep it on. She had obviously waken him up. "LeafPaw... what're you doing," he sleepily asked.
"I put a new fix of yarrow and cobweb on your shoulder. Does it still hurt?"
"Kinda... right here," he licked behind the wound, she guessed, where she expected it to be sore.
She went back to the herbs. She didn't know what to do for soreness yet. She searched her mind for a patient who had complained of soreness. She couldn't that memory. No one had been sore since she'd became the medicine cat apprentice. So, she padded out of the den, listening and scenting for SongPool.
She smelled SongPool and RainStar, and she guessed that SongPool immediatly went to ask RainStar about her going to the Gathering. SongPool obviously heard or saw LeafPaw, because she could hear her mentor coming closer. "SongPool, what herb helps soreness? EmberPaw had complained of his shoulder being sore," she explained.

EmberPaw had been preoccupied with his injuries for the past three days, and he had been missing his training sessions. He had left his web and yarrow mix on his shoulder- he wasn't looking foreward to battle scars just yet. He had seen that SparkPaw left his scar on his ear, and he thought of his brother as a show off. EmberPaw knew that SparkPaw had been trying to impress MayPaw. He purred in amusement at the thought.
He kept trying to stand up, but for the past two days, his attempts had been in vain. It was only this morning that he had succeeded. He also managed to walk to the prey pile, grab a bite to eat, and return. He still felt as if he had enough energy for a patrol, but his shoulder wouldn't let him, so he patiently paced around the medicine cat den, making sure not to get in LeafPaw's or SongPool's way. He knew for a fact that they both had tempers. Like mentor, like apprentice, I guess... he thought.
He had heard about the Gathering from LeafPaw. She just wouldn't drop the subject. She kept going on and on about how VineStar had mentioned the war between TreeClan and a large group of rogues. Apparently, the rogues had broken into TreeClan's camp in an attempt to take over, but VineStar's medicine cat, SmallFeather, had a sign from StarClan, warning them about the invasion. They had barely won the battle. Most of TreeClan was injured and wounded, LeafKit had told him, and they were all unfit for another battle. RainStar took pity on them and agreed not to attack them while they were in their bad condition. He went to the apprentice den, just as SongPool had let him, and he fell asleep.
He blinked. EmberPaw was in TreeClan's camp, looking at the devastated camp. There was a large loss of blood, as the stench was stuck to the camp, and he could see it on the ground. A cat came out of one of the dens, and it was looking directly at him. The mysterious cat walked up to him, and stopped. "There will be a stream of blood and a forest of sorrow. This may only be prevented if the two cats stop the coming storm," the cat said.
Then, the beautiful blue-grey cat faded. His dream was over, and someone was prodding him in the side. He quickly stood up and streaked out of the den, across the camp, and into the medicine cat's den, "SongPool..? I need to talk to you, now!"
SongPool walked up to him and sat down, wrapping her tail over her paws. "Calm down. What is it?"
He took a breath, then he let the details of his dream spill out. SongPool nodded every minute or two, and LeafPaw listened, her blind eyes widening. At the end of his story, he finished with the same thing that the strange cat had said, "There will be a stream of blood and a forest of sorrow. This may only be prevented if the two cats stop the coming storm..."
SongPool nodded once more. "LeafPaw, do you know who the other cat is..?"
"Umm... I think SnowPaw, from TreeClan, also mentioned having a dream with that prophecy," she recalled.
"Well, then the stream of blood and forest of sorrow refers to StreamClan and TreeClan... The storm might be a bloody battle, or a real big weather incident," SongPool seemed to be trying to figure everything out.
"Only SnowPaw and EmberPaw can stop it," LeafPaw pitched in.
EmberPaw wasn't in the mood for being needed for a StarClan prophecy. He just wanted to heal and go back to his training. All he wanted was for his shoulder to heal, and for DarkHeart to take him to the training grounds for some practice. But instead, he got a StarClan prophecy that required SnowPaws help. He did not want to work with that stubborn, half-wit apprentice who looks like a little kit that belongs in the nursery.
"Who was the cat from StarClan? It was a bluish-grey she-cat," he added.
Just after he said bluish-grey she-cat, LeafPaw shouted, "BlueStar!"
It hadnt been a heartbeat, and she knew the cat off the top of her head. He couldnt believe it. "How do you know that cat, err, BlueStar," he asked.
"I had a dream from StarClan telling me that I should be a medicine cat, and BlueStar was the one to tell me this. She had bluish-grey fur," LeafPaw answered.
"Not to be mean or anything, but you saw BlueStar..?"
"Yeah. I can see in my dreams. Its wonderful to have sight! Theres so much to see!!!"
LeafPaw was bounding around the den, and he didnt know why. Sight was normal to him, and being blind was normal to her, so why was she making a big deal over dreams? Why am I asking myself this? She just said that she could see in her dreams. EmberPaw, youre an idiot. A clueless idiot.
