Prolouge
Millie gentley licked her baby wolf's body. It looked exactly like her, but with the blue eyes of her father. "Storm, she's beautiful," Millie whipered to her mate. "What shall we name it?" The gray and black he wolf stood there for a moment, then replied, "She has a silver pelt, and starry blue eyes, Why not...... Star?" Millie's green eyes traveled quite far, then came back. "Oh Star," she cooned, "What a beautiful name! You're so....." she thought for a good word. "You're PERFECT!"
Star layed beside Millie. Their pelt's were identical. "What happened then, Millie?" Star asked her mom, wide-eyed. Millie laughed, glancing at her daughter. "Well, Heaven fought off her enemies, one after the other, until the last one. She realized it was her brother." "What happened then, Millie?" Star asked impaitently. She knew the story of Heaven, but she always liked it even more after she heard it, and each time, the silver wolf was still scared of it. "So then with her last few breaths, she said, 'So, Burn, you failed the Coursa Pack. You failed your leader. You failed me.' Then, she jumped at her brother, and killed him. Laying on the ground, she died, doin what she had to, saving her pack." Star burried her nose in her mother's thick pelt, then pulled it out. Suddenly, she exclaimed, "You'll always be with me, right?" Millie chuckled. "Always and forever." she answered. Starting tomorrow, Star would begin her training. Then she would go to the apprentices den. "Good night, little one," Millie whipered. "Storm and I love you." Star's eye-lids drooped, then she fell asleep.
The dim light of dawn broke through the animal shaped clouds. The wolves stirred, expeccially Star. Today was the day she'd become a hunter/guardian. "Wolves of the Coursa Pack," Coconut, the alpha of his pack boomed. The wolves gathered around the ledge where the hazel-coconut colored wolf was standing, wondering what their alpha had to say this early. "One pup will begin her training today. Star, do you promise to learn best you can?" Coconut faced the silver she wolf. "Yes," Star nodded. "I do." "You shall be a guardian apprentice, may your father, Storm, mentor you." Star felt a surge of pride. Her mother, who was from the zoo, learned to become a guardian, her father, is a guardian, and now she is. Happily, she licked Coconut.
Star ran to her dad. They walked to the edge on the Coursa Pack's territory, the long river. "Oh, this is soooo pertty!" Star whispered. Storm laughed. "Just wait till we fight." Star giggled. She was glad her father was her mentor. Storm dropped into a crouch. "This is the Protection Crouch. We circle our enemy(s) with it, and then we attack." Star crouched it almost like her dad. She walked in a circle, but fell out of it. Storm finally said, "Why don't you pretend I'm the enemy. Cirlce around me, then attack me softly. Okay?" Star giggled, then nodded. She went into the crouch, walked slowly but carefully, and kept glancing at her father. When she caught him of guard, she prounced, and bit her father on the shoulder. "Good job!" Storm praised.
