Lucia covered her hand with her mouth, jumping. Oops! I thought I told you. Or I thought you heard me. Well, cat's out of the bag now for sure. Ryan was eying her weirdly, but her boss saved her by calling her back on duty. She walked out and said hi to Sarah, the other barista working with her. Lucia made herself a caramel frap, the usual, and sipped it as she made the rest of the drinks. Her heart was pounding wildly, and she was grinning like a madman.

Lucia's eyes widened. Does it happen to be with a barista who works at Starbucks? Oh, maybe I should tell Sarah she has a secret admirer. Even in her thoughts, Lucia was grinning. At least she never had to be far from Kayden. They lived together, they worked two doors down, and Kayden had the magical ability to speak with her through walls. Privately. Lucia pulled a strand of her short silver hair back, tucking it behind her ear, and making the next drink.
"In love?" asked Sarah, grinning from the side.
"Yup!" Lucia replied giddily.
"Does he work nearby? Would I know him?" Sarah asked slyly.
"I don't know, do you visit Hallmark often?"
"Why, yes, I do." Sarah gasped. "Would he happen to be that gorgeously cute blondie who just dyed his hair black?"
"That's him!" Lucia exclaimed, almost jumping. She was ignorant of Ryan's death stares. After her talk with him, he had sulked, trying to heal his wounded ego.
"I'm so proud of you Luc!" Sarah squealed, handing off the next drink. "Way to go!" She stopped. "Does he know."
"Yes...yes he does. And I think he feels the same..." Lucia blushed, reddening.

Kayden was listening to Sarah and Lucia's conversation, grinning the whole time. He laughed at Sarah's words - he had heard it so many times in young females' minds, the "gorgeously blonde hottie" was what he was often referred to as. He absentmindedly wrote down a number on the list. You don't have to think I feel the same, Lucia, I do feel the same.

Lucia turned even redder, although Sarah was slightly confused. Thanks...it means a lot to me. Time seemed to inch by, getting closer to 11, finally getting to 11:30, and inching to 11:50. "Ah...I'm pretty sure he feels the same. Hopefully we'll go out soon," Lucia murmured, only to Sarah.
"That's right! I'm sure you will. I've seen him casting glances at you when he comes to get a drink." Sarah was grinning as if she was the one in love.
"Thanks Sarah!" Lucia smiled at one of her best friends in the whole work crew.

At 12:00 on the dot, Kayden rushed into the main part of the store, and threw his nametag into the small box on the back counter. "See you later." He tossed the words over his shoulder to his manager as he grabbed his skateboard and hopped on outside, boarding the short distance to Starbucks. He kicked up his skateboard and held it in his left hand as he walked inside. He saw Lucia behind the counter, gossiping with Sarah. He walked over to the counter where people picked up their drinks, leaned on it, and said smoothly, "Hey, I ordered a caramel frappuchino with a silver-haired cutie on top?"

Lucia looked up at the clock, as it hit twelve, and saw Kayden ride in at 12:01, hardly late. "Hey, sorry about that, but if you can see, we're busy. Coming right up~ Oh, but you might have to pay for it, I've heard it's a bit pricey. Cashier's over there~" She gestured to the register as she began mixing up the caramel frap.
"Oooh, that's him~" squealed Sarah. Lucia laughed and nodded.
"That's him. My knight in shining armor."

Kayden laughed and winked at Sarah. "How enthusiastic," he teased. "Here..." He passed a $10 bill over the counter. "Keep the change as a tip, split it. I don't want it going to..." he glanced at Ryan with narrowed eyes. "-that guy over there." Looking to Lucia, he said, "Forget pricey...I heard it's priceless." He grinned at her, his blue eyes sparkling.

She smiled, and Sarah giggled behind her. Lucia slid the bill over to her friend and handed Kayden the drink. "I'll be out in a second," she promised, vanishing into the employees only area. She took off her apron, grabbed her skateboard, and raced out to the front of the restaurant. "Hey, Kayden, I'm baaack!" Sarah grinned knowingly at Lucia as the two left the coffee shop.

"I've been waaaaiiitiiing," Kayden sang back as they went out the door. "So-" he dropped his skateboard to the ground and put one foot on it. "What shall we do, Mrs. Latte-Hallmark?" he asked, laughing and reddening a little at his own joke. He took a sip of his frappucino and held out his arm, bent as if he were accompanying her to a dance, and waited, wondering if she would take it.
