So, a question that I just thought of and want peoples' opinions on, in light of something that I recently did in an RPG: Can an RPG centering on a children's storyline -- such as BIONICLE or Pokémon -- possess a convincingly dark and mature storyline that allows it to be taken seriously, even by people who see the franchises as a kids' line, without losing an edge simply because the game is based off of said kids' line?
Question might be a bit confusing, but basically what I'm asking is, is it possible to scare/startle people with a good enoguh storyline, even if it is based on something young kids stereotypically like, such as Pokémon?
Personally, I say yes, and I have examples to prove it, but I want to see what everyone else says.
i say yes. enough people see pokemon in a really twisted way. (some kid in my grade had a theory about pokemon that won't let me look at them the same way ever again.)
