Amberpaw openedher eyes and stared off into space as her mentor spoke. Of all cats in the clan; of anyone, it had to be her mentor that found her now. She was lucky though, comforted enough to talk without breaking down. That would be incredibly weak, especially in front of the tom she was trying to show that she was strong. That she was good enough. "You're here now," she whispered, her throat betraying her. She was a poor judge on emotions today. Amberpaw tried to hold everything in, so she concentrated on her numb paws. The numbness that she urged to spread throughout her body. But it wouldn't go. Why wouldn't it go? She couldn't hide the pain for a few moments, and her breathing became uneven. She tried to catch it again, but couldn't. Why was she so weak? Was it fear? Gasping for air now, she tried to move her paws. She had to get away.

Ivoryclaw noted her discomfort and oncomin sadness. He glanced up at the sky for a moment and pondered. "Its beautiful weather we are having," he said the usual stupid small talk that often made cats feel better. He was gently or trying to gently turn the topic from whatever she had been thinking about. Yet his true self refused to partake in that of the stupid comments cats made to beat around the bush. With a harsh sigh he turned his sharp eyes to the she-cat, "Tell me whats wrong. I cant have the apprentice with the most potential to be falling to shables. Its alright to fall apart but only in front of those you trust. If you trust me enough then i will try to help, if not let me know so i can escort you back to camp to talk to someone." His voice was curt and a little fed up, but not with the she cat. He was fed up with himself having not adressed her concerns the moment he found her. He had tried to be a bit differet, he tried to be sensitive the way others did but that ws not his way. He wanted to get straight to the problem, that was his way of showing compassion.

Amberpaw gritted her teeth. "I don't want to..." she looked up at him, eyes swimming with tears, all the emotions that she had bottled up for moons spelled clearly in her eyes, though her face was still calm, and her voice quivvered with fear. "There's nobody else I could talk to. My parents and brothers were killed, they were killed, and nobody's ever told me why. Everyone went on, because my parents didn't make friends." She looked away, unable to face her mentor. "I don't even remember their names." With that, her face stayed calm, but her eyes spilled over with tears. For the first time she knew, she longed for something. Amberpaw wasn't sure what, but it felt like there had been a hole, frayed at the edges in her all along, and she had been in too much pain to even notice it. Upon stating the facts out loud for the first time, the frayed edges were somehow sewed together. It didn't make sense to her, but nothing did. Why did she trust Ivoryclaw enough to admit her problems? Why did she feel closest to the cat that showed as much emotion as her? Why wasn't she happy like the other apprentices, and why did she not feel any need to be that happy?

Ivoryclaw listened and studied her problems for a moment. He remembered her mother and father a bit, but only because he observed the clan rather than participating in it. THe tom shook his head softly and stepped in to the water beside her. He closed the modest gap between them to stand closer and hopefully give her some sort of comfort in his own way. Ivoryclaw glanced up at the moon and drew in a silent breath, "The only thing you really can do is live on. You dont remember them and thats harsh enough but dont let their fates deside yours. The cats in the clan may not remember them, same goes for you but why dont you show them all. Make a name for yourself. Be the greatest warrior the clans have ever seen and then they will all regret not knowing the parents of that great warrior." Ivoryclaw looked down at her for a moment, "I can teach you. I will be there with you every step of the way to make sure that you surpass even me." His face held no emotion as always but his eyes did sparkle with a hint of warmth. Perhaps she didnt want the warmth that the amber pools reflected but it was there either way and Ivoryclaw didnt care whether or not she accepted it. It would roll off his back like water.

Florestadream woke quietly, eyes solemn as she woke up. She was going to take a trip to LakeClan territory whether or not her clanmates knew. Standing, she slipped from the den. Everyone was already out and about, so it would not be hard to leave. As her paw stepped out of the entrance, her brother popped up beside her.

"You're going on an adventure, and I'm coming," he stated bluntly. Looking over her shoulder, she saw Whitestar padding out of his den. Sighing, she nodded and then said, "Keep up," as she paws flew over the ground as she made her way towards LakeClan. Maybe she could convince Rivershine to come to her clan. Maybe.

She hoped so as she raced through the forest, evading trees and such as she almost flew, her brother just as graceful as her. Was it in their genes? They kept an even, quiet pace as the neared the LakeClan border.

"Talonclaw, I scent DartClan -- or rather, NightClan. I fear for our safety, so stay low, brother," Florestadream warned. Then she scented LakeClan -- then blood. Stifling a cry, she raced, low to the ground, towards LakeClan. Her worst fears were locked up in the back of her mind, but she knew what had happened. Probably a fight between the DartClan warriors and the LakeClan patrol. SHadowstar wanted LakeClan on his side.

Entering the camp, she stopped in her tracks, eyes wide. Talonclaw was right beside her, still as a statue. Sunstar was there, with her deputy, Seapelt, and the DartClan deputy, Cryeyes. Crouching low, she moved around them, and shrunk back. "What a bad adventure this has been so far, Florestadream," breathed Talonclaw, green eyes as solemn as her's.

Suddenly she saw Rivershine's serious eyes, and she made her way towards him. But, no, it was just a she-cat. Padding quietly up to her, she noticed the talking had stopped. "Where is Rivershine?" demanded Florestadream, eyes narrowed. When she she-cat motioned to what appeared the medicine-cat den, Florestadream gave a nod of thanks, and she and her brother slipped into the den.

"Rivershine?" she called softly. She could hear Sunstar and Cryeyes confrencing outside, and it worried her as she searched for her friend. A small moan came from the back, and Florestadream raced to Rivershine. He wasn't badly hurt -- just a cut or two there -- until she noticed his eye. She gave a small cry in fear as she took an involuntary step back. His eye was swelled shut, and claw marks had scratched it -- probably his actual eye, too.

What had they come to? Was allies this important?

oOc;; hope this post is mkay. :3 i wanted to be able to show what was happening in LakeClan camp -- i will not make sunstar's decision -- that's mosspaw's decision, but i will show the discussion. :3

Sunstar gasped for breath. His clan was defeated, no doubt. They would die of sickness or injuries, and the prey was most likely now gone since the vicious fight. He sighed, knowing the best for his clan.
"I... My clan will join you, Shadowstar," he meowed.

Mosspaw breathed the air. It was full of oak scent. It was beautiful. Her eyes watered. Sometimes, the scent was too strong. She sighed and stared into LeafClan territory. It seemed nice, but she knew she was never fit for it. The tree was so tall she could see all the way to LakeClan territory. She smiled, thinking about her 'friends'. As soon as her eyes set on the LakeClan territory, she gasped. It was stained with... blood!

Ivoryclaw came closer to her, and through the pain, awarmness settled in the pit of her stomach. She didn't know what it was, she'd never felt it before. But it seemed strangely familiar. Like she'd felt itin a past life. She stared at the water as he spoke. Amberpaw looked up when he told her to be the best warrior she could be. So it wasn't an insane thought. She wasn't just crazy. And he said he'd help her 'till she was beter than even him. She laughed a little and wiped away her tears with a wet paw. Nobody could ever be better than him, but she'd try. Looking into his eyes, she saw something that she'd never seen there. Instead of the cold layer that sparkled with intensity, it seemed... Nice. Like a proud father that was showing everyone his kits, or a leader who knew he made the right decision. "Thank you." She said softly, closing the distance between them and burying her nose in his neck. This small touch, however she knew he'd resent it, comforted her still. She didn't care if he'd backed away. Just knowing that he cared enough about something to help her made her know that there might have been some reason she didn't die that day. There was something StarClan needed her for, and she'd find out one way or another.

Ivoryclaw stiffened for a moment when she pushed her face in to his neck. He stared at the top of her head for a moment before he made himself relax. At least the she cat was nolonger crying. Most cats in his situation would have licked the top of her head and comforted her but Ivoryclaw was not that cat. He let her kepp her nose buried in his fur as long as she thought it was needed. He nodded softly and murmured, "There now, dont thank me just yet. You still have a long way to go." His voice which was always like a wall of ice seemed almost... playful at that point. "You still have to work on your stance and attacks. You are progressing from what your former mentor taught you but only one day under my intruction doesnt deserve thanks. You will be cursing my name by the time Im done with you. Yet then i might just even be warmed up enough to admit that i was proud of you." Ever so slightly the edge of his lip moved upward to make his face a small bit more pleasant before it turned back to his usual frown.

Amberpaw was surprised when he relaxed, and stayed just a moment longer before pulling away. She listened to his next words with a smile, and her now pink eyes sparkling with hope. She knew that he didn't realise he was lying in this sense. Or she'd prove him wrong. Whatever he put her through, she'd never curse his name or regret asking for help. She needed him to do this, however the little task of mentoring her might seem to him. It gave her something to learn. Something else to keep her busy. "Whatever you say, old and gray one." She scrunched her nose and smiled at the funny nick name. He wasn't really silver with age, but his manner made him seem old and gray. The name was fitting in her mind. "I still say thanks, if only for this." She let ehr nose relax and just smiled at him.

Ivoryclaw lifted a brow at her. Gray? Old? What did she mean by that? Did he really look old? He was hardly much older than a new made warrior and she was calling him old gray one? This little jest suprised him a bit, but dispite that his face made a sarcastic frown, "Old eh? Im sure i can still beat a young whipper snapper like you in to submission." He lifted his large paw and gave her a slightly playful cuff behind the ear. "Dont make me prove it," His whiskers twitched with amusment as he stood away from her and turned. "Ive already tried hunting today so i might as well get some teaching in. We dont want this new... Nightclan to be better than us. WIth the two strongest warriors in any of the clans im sure we will be able to defend our friends against anything. Who knows, you may even go down as a legend for mothers to tell to their kits in the nursery. Kits might even fight over who gets to play you when they fight." He turned an amused glance over his shoulder toward her.
