Copperpaw became dizzy as Viverpaw circled him swatting a paw left and right every now and again. Shaking his head he concentrated on her paws, watching the direction she went, how fast she was going, and when her paws striked his face. Seeing her paw began to lift up Copperpaw got ready and stood up quickly. Viverpaw's paw was just about to reach his face when he took both of his paws and slammed them on each side of the incoming paw. Leaning in close to her he pushed the paw back and brought the she-cat falling back on the ground. He fell ontop of her and kicked her belly gently with his back paws. Then jumped off of her before she could swat back. "Had enough?" he panted and watched the she-cat closly.

"Nope!" laughed Viverpaw. She had another tactic she had learned. She attacked first this time, and instead of jumping ontop of Copperpaw, she slid under him and kicked him into the air with her hind legs. She then dove at him while he was in mid fall and propelled him higher, and then turned back towards the ground and shot back down. She made sure he landed softly and didn't use all of her weight, because it would have driven him into the ground. She quickly started to slowly move around him in a wide circle. If he attacked, she'd speed up in the opposite direction.

Hazelclaw saw where this was going and watched Viverpaw shoot up with Copperpaw and bring him down. The rouges she had been with must have taught her some new moves, because he most certainly didn't know that ne. She didn't keep her self too open, which was good. Everytime copperpaw had switched tactics, she had switched with him. But what if she stopped doing that when he had figured it out? He sat next to Copperpaw's mentor."I know neither of us has seen any warrior do those moves." he whispered.

Copperpaw landed on the ground and shook his head. Looking at Viverpaw he laughed. "Alright enough playing around. It's time to finish this little battle." Running toward her, Copperpaw tried to grab her and pin the other apprentice down but everytime he tried she would run off in another direction. Figuring out what she was doing he pretended to go after her by running a few paces and right when he knew she would turn he did the same thing and moved closer to her, doing the same thing each time she turned. Finally in reach he used his back legs to push him forward as he half ran half jumped toward the she-cat and grabbed her with his paws around her shoulders. Putting his weight on her he put his head over her neck and used his back legs to bring her back, making them both fall to the ground. With her on top of him he took his back legs and kicked her softly making her flip over him onto the ground.
Fawnstep had to agree with the deputy. Watching Copperpaw's move she shook her head. "I didn't teach him any of those moves." Tilting her head she tried to think about any other cat who would try any of those moves. Only one name came to her mind. "Bearpelt..." She murmered. "Copperpaw's dad use to try and make new moves up all the time, but he's dead......" Shaking her head she looked at Hazelclaw and narrowed her eyes in curiousity. "How do you think Viverpaw learned those moves?"

"I have no idea. She most certainly doesn't have any relatives who would know those things, and most of those moves are moves that especially trained and expreimented dogs would use. Remember how she kept circleing Copperpaw and then shooting out at him and then changing direction? Only dogs would know that move. Andhow would she have known how to shoot Copperpaw into the air and nearly drive him into the ground?" Hazelclaw quoted. Viverpaw wasn't quite finished yet. She stood up, and got up on her hind legs, standing on them, but not completely. She leaned forewards a bit. Hazelclaw had only seen BEARS stand on their hind legs like that. But she did something else too. She was balancing all of her weight, and then she pinned down Copperpaw's tail. She then jumped up and sprang on top of him, batting his face, and rolling him over so he was ontop of her. She kicked his back, sending him back into the air like last time, shot up at him, and then did the ground drive move. She then started to run around Copperpaw again, but never using the same pattern to shoot out at him this time. She even jumped over him to shoot out at his face, and kept switching he patterns.

Hazelclaw stared at them both, mouth open. He looked back at Fawnstepp. "I most certainly didn't teach her to fight like a dog or a bear, or some weird squirrel. I don't know if those loners even taught her those moves." he told her. But Viverpaw had watched the loners use those moves, and was applying them. Hazelclaw kept staring. "This is getting odd. It's onestrange move after the next. I won't be surprised if it comes down to a draw." he told her.

Copperpaw felt Viverpaw jab him everywhere. He was getting really sore now, but didn't want the younger apprentice to know she won if he gave up. Thinking quickly he began to back up as she circled him until his back was against a tree. Leaning on the tree he sighed in relief. Now she can only hit me from the side or front, but it wasnt enough she was still faster then he was and her moves were precise. Taking a deep breath he tried to think of a move that could get him out of this mess. Closing his eyes he thought back to his training and smiled. "Gotcha." He meowed and turned to climb the tree. Walking on a branch closest to the ground he watched Viverpaw and jumped off and away from the apprentice. Finally getting out of the apprentices circle he quickly tackled her and they both tumbled into one furry ball.
Fawnstep nodded. "I think it already has." She watched as the apprentices fought and finally end up in a small ball. "I think that's enough do you?" She looked toward Hazelclaw and wondered what the deputy was thinking about.

'Yeah, I think we should end it now." he laughed. Viverpaw made on final attempt to thwart Copperpaw. She kicked him off and stood, but he landed upside up too. "Hey! Fightss over!"Hazelclaw laughed, seaperating them. "That was a good match. Let's say it was a tie." he told them. Viverpaw gave in and nodded, the fire of battle gone from her eyes. SHe sat there calmly, smiling at Copperpaw. "That was a pretty fair fight." she said. Or, at least that's what she thought.

Copperpaw sat down and panted. "Yea. Your moves were pretty good." He yawned and then laughed. "At this rate will be warriors in no time." Smiling he looked over to Fawnstep who nodded in approval. The tired out apprentice collapsed on the ground and licked his paw. "Can we just pick up our prey from this morning and go back to camp, that battle took the strengh out of me." Fawnstep laughed and walked over to her apprentice. "OK. You've had enough fun today anyways." Looking up at the sky she pawed the ground. "We better hurry it looks like it's about to rain." Feeling a small drop of water touch her nose she shook her head and looked at Hazelclaw. "Are you going to come back to camp too or hunt?" She tilted her head, and waited for an answer. If he was going to stay and hunt she might as well too.

"I think I may as well go back to camp." Hazelclaw laughed. He saw a streak of thunder in the distance. "Come on, lets get in our dens." he said seriously. He lead the way with Fawnstepp behind him. Viberpaw trailed in the back with Copperpaw. "Say, did Fawnstepp teach you those moves?" she asked him while Fawnstepp and Hazelclaw were out of earshot. "I overheard them talking while we were fighting. Apparently, they haven't seen any warrior or apprentice do the moves we did." she added.

Copperpaw nodded. "I was listening too." he looked to the ground and watched his paws walking across the ground. "I....made the moves up...by myself." He looked back up at Viverpaw and nodded. The truth was Copperpaw learned them in a dream. His father Bearpelt had been in one of his dreams a few days ago and they practiced different moves together. Copperpaw didn't know why his father had suddenly popped into one of his dreams and started training him, but he didn't really care either. As long as he could see his father again. Although when Bearpelt had first entered his son's dream he said "Someday you will be put in a situation you don't want to be in, and everyone may just be depending on you or a few other apprentices." Copperpaw had wondered everyday since his father had said those words but he never dared ask him anything, not yet. Shaking his head Copperpaw looked back at Viverpaw and tilted his head. "Who taught you those moves you used on me? I know Hazelclaw didn't teach anything like that." He smiled and tilted his head to the side questiongly.

"Well, I watched the rouges without them knowing, and I saw a dog do them." Viverpaw replied. SHe really had. "And did you hear that comment Hazelclaw made? About how I stood like a bear on that last attack?" she asked. "I've never seen a bear before. While he was commenting, it sounded like that was one of the things bears do to make themselves look stronger."she said, her mind growing distant. It was starting to pour. "Come on, lets get in the Apprentice den fast!" Viverpaw said. She charged into it, barley getting her pel;t wet. Hazleclaw sent Fawnstepp off to her den and went into his. He then called Viverpaw over. "Viverpaw! Get over here! I need to speak with you!" she sighed. She waved her tail at Copperpaw and dashed through the rain, heading into the deputy den.
