Ebonycloud had followed her easily. However the climb up the rocks had been awkward with his long legs. "Umm... I noticed earlier that I havent been of much use lately. I know helping you relax can be a fufilling job but... Im really not good for anything. I catch prey and defend borders but what else? IM not helping our future here. I dont have a mate and i dont think i will ever have one so there goes that idea. I think its about time that i grew up. If its alright with you... I would like to be a mentor the next time the kits are ready." His ice blue eyes looked hopefully at Duskstar. He was stiff and his pose was anxious. He wasnt sure he would be a good mentor but he had to try right? That was the least he could do.

Jaggedpine sighed deeply and nodded at Scorchheart. "I'm fine," he said, tail waving. He stood and walked around the camp. It was almost sunset. The battle had lasted longer than he had thought. He stalked over to Shatterstep and Aurapaw. "Is there anything I can do to help you guys?" he asked.

Duskstar smiled, letting out a soft purr. "You could have just asked, my friend. Of course you can. Is there any kit that you would particularly like to train?" The fact that he looked so anxious was humorous in itself, after all, she had thought he knew that he should not be worried with her. "But, hunting and fighting is what warriors do. You are not shirking any responsibilities in not training an apprentice, and you do not have to if you don't want to."

Scorchheart gve a little nod, but still looked worried. "Alright, see ya later." she said. Slumping off, she noticed the warriors den was occupied with many fighters. It would be hard to find a good nest. "Oh great-ah well. Improvision is needed after a while." she sighed. SHe looked up into a bright fern and hopped up into it, clawing her way up. "I gotta lay offa thoae voles and rabbits." she muttered with a laugh as she reached a high branch. SHe lay on top of it, over looking the camp. "I'll wait until I can get a job to do. Until DUsky or Jaggers or someone else asks me, I think I'll wait and watch." she whispered.

Aurapaw was getting a bundle of poppy seed and cobweb to some of the injured warriors. Aurapaw looked at Jaggedpine. "Maybe you could just put some cobwebs on cats who are bleeding. So it will soak up the blood." She told Jaggedpine. Then she started to give cats poppy seed

Ebonycloud shuffled on his paws. "Yeah... I guess you are right. Hunting and protecting is what we warriors do but... I cant help this feeling that i need to do more. That there is something that needs my help and I... I just dont know Duskstar... Its a little hard to explain. I figure that if i train a kit then perhaps that feeling will go away. I was watching Lightkit the other day. I have to say the little guy has a great hunter's crouch. Perhaps him?" The tom's eyes fell to the floor. "Then again, training a kit wouldnt give us much time together would it?" The dark warrior's heart sank. His relationship with his leader was something he valued above all else. Would it really change if he persued this idea?

Duskstar smiled gently, even as she reached the same conclusion. "If you truly do want to train Lightkit, then you can. I was thinking of taking Wolfkit as my own apprentice, when he grew of age with his siblings. Since they are littermates, they would have the same apprentice ceremony. Certainly our time together would be cut down - if it isn't cut down already, from the time that we were both warriors - but we could train our apprentices together. Again, whatever you feel you have to do. I won't force you to take an apprentice though." Her tail curled over her paws and she tilted her head gently to the side.

Ebonycloud grinned softly, relief washing over him. "Thanks Duskie," he chuckled softly using her kithood nickname. He wasnt too fond of calling warriors by nicknames but Duskstar was a different matter. He could call her leader, Duskie or squirt when he felt like it. He just didint out of respect for her. Of course, if he ever did call her by a nickname she could just as easily cuff him over the ears.
The dark warrior padded forward and touched his nose to her cheek. "I hope training together will be fun." He pulled away from her and turned toward the entrance. "Dont forget, Im here if you need anything." With that he made his way down the rock pile and in to the middle of camp.

Scorchheart smiled as she watched Ebonycloud and Duskstar talk. They got along real well. Shatterstep and Aurapaw also got along pretty good. "Wonder when Aura will have her ceremony...." thought Scorchheart as she watched them. Jaggedpine was still there. "I bet he and Painteleaf get along well too. But then again, Jagged pine and Ebbs get along with every body." she chuckled. "Wonder if Painte likes Jaggers as more than friends. It seems that way with Duskstar and Ebbs, but if I told em they'd turn me to fresh kill." she laughed.
