"Morning, Petaldancer," greeted Bearfur. As he saw Thunderstep however, he grinned and chuckled. Looking towards Nightfang, he grinned. "Well, we should probably head off soon, shouldn't we? Keeping them waiting won't be very good. Though Shadestreak is done with me, I'd say. He can't even look me in the eye anymore." Rolling his shoulders, he looked at the apprentice. "Oh, good morning!" he greeted cheerfully. Arching his back in a stretch, he yawned once more. "Maybe we can switch mentors for the day or somethin'?" Bearfur suggested to Nightfang hopefully. Not that he wanted Nightfang to have to change her strategy or anything, but he really hated Whitewhisker and the way he treated Nightfang. Bearfur was aware he had no say in it... but he knew that TigerClan cats would have done it without discussion. I think I may be taking this too seriously...

Nightfang butted her friend's shoulder warmly, "Ah don't worry about me Bearfur. I can handle my own battles." She pulled back and winked softly at him. Inside she was terrified of Whitewhisker but there was nothing to be done. If she couldn't prove herself against her mentor, then Darkstar might kick her out, or worse... With a sigh, the she-cat heaved herself on to her paws and trotted toward Whitewhisker.
She gave him a dirty look, only to receive a wicked grin for her trouble. "Well?" she spat, "Aren't you going to take me out to train today? I do believe my pelt is still in tact and we know that won't do." She lashed her stripped tail back and forth in anger.
Her twisted mentor snickered darkly, "Well if your so eager to get more scars on that pretty face of yours, I would be happy to oblige." He moved away from the camp toward the entrance, Nightfang following behind with a bristling pelt. She had to beat him in some way, she just had to. If not she just might be killed for her trouble.

Cliffheart had been watching Nightfang go to her mentor. She seemed worried about something. Cliffheart, having had so much practice back home, was pretty good at stalking, so he decided to follow. If he got in trouble with Stormfoot, they'd fight and that would be that. Oh well. Crouching low, Cliffheart snuck out of the camp quite a ways behind Nightfang. He was echausted, and she seemed so, too. Whitewhisker was hard on her, and as tired as she was, it was his responsibility to make sure she wouldn't get hurt.

Nightfang trailed behind her large mentor, unaware of their uninvited guest. Whitewhisker moved ahead, confidence in every step. After a moment or two he stopped, though he didn't whirl around like he usually did. Nightfang bristled for a moment, watching the white tom with hatred. The muscular Tigerclan warrior sat down and began to groom his pelt slowly, as if he had all the time in the world. Nightfang didn't sit however, instead she moved a few paces away out of striking distance.
Her amber eyes fixed Whitewhisker in place, though he paid no mind to her. Halfway through the arrogant cat's grooming session he purred, "So, why haven't you beaten me yet? I've given you plenty of time to take advantage of me." His cold blue eyes flashed at her with mischief in them.
Nightfang felt as though there were a hidden meaning behind his words so she spat, "Like I even want to get near you." She snorted and turned away. With the moment of distraction, Whitewhisker launched himself at her. However since their training began, Nightfang had grown more accustom to the way he thought and how he moved. Just at the last moment she dodged away enough only to be knocked off balance in her hind end for a second. Daintily Whitewhisker landed and turned again to attack. He lashed out at her, though she ducked and dodged away. He had her on the run, just how he liked it. Nightfang twisted and danced out of the tom's grasp at every turn, though her stamina was nearly drained. When he jumped at her, she barely moved away in time, though he grabbed her hind paw causing her to trip.
She was sent sprawling to the ground, just like their first battle. Attempting to scramble herself but up, Whitewhisker pounced and latched himself to her throat. His eyes burned with cold fire, her filled with fear. The fear in her eyes only drove the tom onwards as he began to crush the life from her throat. Nightfang twisted and writhed but could not get free. She let out pleading gasps of air though no words could form. Tears streaked her face as she continued her futile attempt to dislodge him. Her claws scored across Whitewhisker's face and shoulders but Nightfang could do nothing. Blackness shroud her vision, a desperate need to throw herself in to his cold embrace filled her. Panic set in though she fought the urge to give in to death's soft caresses. The only thing that went through her mind was, save me...

Petaldancer took a deep breath and set off across the grass strewn grounds towards the hated fiend. As Petaldancer grew near, Sunheart's haught face turned up in a look of cruel pleasure at the sight of her apprentice, "Well, look what the tide washed in?" She paused as she raised a paw, letting her claws slide out. "My apprentice." She smirked, a sort of smug superiority underlying the expression as her slitted forest eyes zeroed in on her like she was a piece of prey she couldn't wait to rip apart. "Watch it, Sunheart. One more blow at your pride and the mentor will become to apprentice." Petaldancer spat, her fur bristling. Sunheart's cold eyes snapped to her, malice lurking within them, an underlying disgust that shot a swift pang of fear through her. "Don't talk to me that way, scum." The two she-cat's glared at each other in tense silence, then suddenly Sunheart smoothed her fur over and her demeanor returned to the usual unfathomable coldness. With a flick of the tail, she turned and troted after Whitewhisker, her claws needing the ground almost as if she wanted to stretch her paws over Petaldancer's throat. Petaldancer followed, her eyes seething with loathing.

Cliffheart saw his chance, and he leaped out of hiding with a roar almost lion-like. He slammed into Whitewhisker, throwing him off Nightfang. Cliffheart stood in front of his clanmate, guarding her. "Stay away from her, you sick fiend!" he snarled, tail lashing. Nothing could describe the anger he felt. maybe he would die, but he would die fighting for his clanmate, just like he'd always want to die. His claws kneaded the earth and his eyes flashed with newly found energy.

Nightfang dropped to the ground while Cliffheart rushed to her rescue. Her body felt like dead weight as a small pool of blood formed underneath her. The wound would not be fatal, it was the lack of air that had nearly killed her. Her sides heaved with effort, the whites in her amber eyes showing.
Whitewhisker landed with a heavy thud a tail length away, surprise on his malice filled face. He locked his cold blue eyes on Cliffheart, "What's the matter runt, worried about your precious friend? No one can be in Tigerclan if they can't prove themselves. If you knew what was good for you, you'd let the dead weight drop from your care. She won't make is very long here. You, on the other paw, have great potential. You should make sure to do everything you can to have a place here. Leave her be, let her die. Its what she's good for."
From where she lay, Nightfang curled herself in to a fetal position. She tucked her nose to her knees and her sides made spasms as she began to cry. She hated it here, she wanted to go home. She was to weak to be of any help. Despite the great desire to sob, she said as evenly as she could, "He's right... I can't stay here." Beginning to sit up she looked toward Cliffheart, "I shouldn't have come."

Cliffheart, keeping an ear toward Whitewhisker, turned to Nightfang, his eyes soft and full of concern. "Don't you dare say that. You're as perfect as any warrior I've ever met. You have heart, Nightfang. You'll survive here, I promise you." He rested his muzzle on top of her head. "I promise you." He actually didn't really know what he was saying. "Just rest, you'll be fine. I promise you." He turned back to Whitewhisker. "No," he growled, firmly setting his paws. He showed no sign of submission or fear. All he could say was no, so he said it again. "No."

Nightfang lips quivered with emotion at what Cliffheart said, the white in her eyes stained red with tears. She didn't know what to say.
Whitewhisker tilted his head to the side lazily, "Very well, go on. Take her back to camp. I'll pretend like this little outburst never happened." After a moment his eyes grew darker, "But you and I, we aren't done yet. Watch your back Lionclan scum, because if you don't I will." A wicked grin plastered itself on the tom's face before he heaved himself on to his paws and stalked away.
Nightfang watched him go before turning back to Cliffheart, eyes filled with gratitude, "I don't know what I would have done if you weren't here." She didn't ask why he had followed her, instead she was only focused on that he had been watching out for her. Slowly, the she-cat rose to on to her shaking paws. "I don't think you are going to be safe though. Whitewhisker is more than likely going to try to kill you," her voice trembled with sadness knowing that it was her fault for being weak. Had she been Bearfur she could have easily put Whitewhisker in his place, proven that she could live among these savages. However she had never been a good fighter, her body wasn't really built for that. Now she was dragging her friends down with her, "I should just go home. It would be easier on all of us if I did. You wouldn't have to look out for me and things will run a lot smoother."

Cliffheart snorted a bit, then lended Nightfang his shoulder to lean on. "Don't worry about me," he said softly. "And no, you shouldn't go home. You may not see it, but we need you. It's important that we have you here. More important then you'll ever know."

Ooc: short...I gotta go.
