Emili frowned and tilted her head again, "You human's are so confusing. Why can't you simply have just a single name, or perhaps no name at all? I am only called Emili since it stands for Experimental Military Intelligent Life-Systems Interface. Even that title is not one I chose. Why must a name be so important?" She crossed her arms over her chest. The AI part of her still did not understand these humans. However she could hardly be blamed, she wasn't exactly human and never would be.

William followed behind Gloria, the woman had been silent the whole way. The man had not spoke since he had left Mary back there either. The little girl had been annoying at first but he did sincerely care about her well being. Though its not like he could keep her, she wasn't a lost puppy. Then again, she might as well have been. Sighing heavily he shook the thoughts from his head. It was time for him to grow up and tell the rest of the group that he was going to join Dex and the dwellers of Outcast. He needed to put a stop to NAGA and Henry as well. Plus, things just wouldn't feel quiet right if he let Dex go out on her own without him.
The two made their way to an area that looked very similar to the one that William had gotten lost in. She turned to her and she explained the whole province scheme. As she made her way toward the market, she pointed out places of interest and certain shops that would be best for the Patriots to use.
"Soon we will call upon Dex to help us," Gloria said evenly. William's eyes darted to her. "We are preparing an infiltration mission in to NAGA headquarters. If anyone has an idea of where the AI is, they will."
William's mouth twitched and he took a moment to gather his courage. Finally he said boldly, "Count me in. I'm going with her."
Gloria lifted her brow at him, "This is... unexpected. Why did you decide to join us?"
William's mouth twisted in to a grin and a short endearing laugh escaped his throat, "Well... A particularly annoying but clever young woman challenged me. Its either grow up, or let her go. Figure its time to grow up."

Suddenly a hand was on her shoulder. In a natural reaction, Valerie grabbed the hand and spun around, her free hand flat and fingers pointing into the shoulder joint. With a frown, she snorted at the man's calm reaction. "Who are you?" snapped Valerie. "I don't really have any time for grabby men. I'm looking for some man named Jackson." At that she looked away fro a split second, groaning something about, "old men and their secretive natures," and snorting. The man chuckled and she scowled. "What's so funny?"
"My name is Jackson. Maria told me someone was looking for me," replied the man easily.
Valerie inspected the man - he couldn't be more than twenty years her senior. "Of course. Valerie -"
"Soot. I'm well aware. I'm not dead or blind," he replied snappishly.
Letting go of him, Valerie snorted. "Sorry. I expected a battle-hardened fifty-year old."
"Then you'd be looking for my father."
Valerie took a step back and took a deep breath. "Gloria told me that food is free but... what exactly do you trade for clothes?" muttered Valerie.
"Well, usually foods or clothes for clothes. It's a simple system."
"Aah," she replied, finally getting a look at her surroundings.
"It's good to have you on our side. We need fighters like you."
Raising an eyebrow, she nodded. "Like me?"
"Calculating. Knowledgeable."
"Aw. You're making me blush," deadpanned Valerie, snorting. She didn't tower over Jackson, but he was clearly not taller than her. "Either way, I'm not that Knowledgeable. We were left in the dark a lot." Rubbing the back of her neck, she shrugged. "Thank you. I'll know who to look for then..."
"Alright if that's all --"
"The thirty year-old with white hair," taunted Valerie with a smirk.
"... You're welcome."

"Well if you were human you'd understand." He said, but he didn't intend for his tone to sound to harsh and bitter, nor did he intend the double meaning of the statement. He realized that it may have been an insult, think that she didn't quite fully understand humans, but she was practically one herself, minus all the fleshy organs inside. She had feels, at least Daniel thought she had feelings for she had always seem to show her emotions to the group without realizing it. "No I didn't mean it that way..." Daniel murmured, regreting what he had said earlier.

After William's announcement Gloria had left saying that she needed to consult with the council regarding the mission they were preparing. William had let her go with just a nod of his head. Turning toward the market he began to explore, though he didn't really get to far knowing that he had gotten lost once before. The people in the streets were busy about their work and spared him no more mind than necessary. This made William feel rather at ease. No one was looking for him, no one expected anything from him. These people stood together because it was their wish to, not because they had been created to do so.
The Commander wove his way toward the center of the market spotting a few heavy clothes that looked especially comfortable and not much lighter than mid-tone gray. William approached the stall when he heard a rather familiar voice. He turned quickly toward the sound. There was Dex talking to a man not exactly her size. William frowned softly. He didn't approach since he didn't really feel as though he should. If this man tried anything with Dex he'd soon find out that he could actually see his spine before he died. That thought made William actually laugh a short, but audible laugh. He stayed back, waiting for Dex to finish her conversation.

Emili's brows furrowed at Shepard's remark. She tensed at the meaning behind his words before turning her face away. "Perhaps if you were an AI things would confuse you just as they do me." She did no remark on his second statement though. She merely turned from him and headed for the apartments, "You are rather dense Lieutenant."

Nodding no, Valerie paused. "Actually, no. It's not. Do you go on missions often, or something?" She was still rubbing the back of her neck and forced herself to stop as she felt it becoming raw. "I'm just wondering how you work during missions. My commander isn't joining us and I'd like to know someone. I don't really need to know anything other than if you're reckless or stupid or calculating or something."
"Please tell me you've noticed all these scars on my face," he replied slowly.
"Mm, I did. I also calculated that you're probably an idiot that charges into battle but I just wanted to know that you knew that, too," replied Valerie easily with a laugh at his face.
"I am not an idiot! I just... like to be in the front line with my men!" he stuttered.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know we're living in the nineteenth century where we still have waves of men and aren't smart enough to pull of missions with a few people."
"Are you mocking me?"
"Me? Of course not!" joked Valerie with a snort. "I'm making fun of you."
"... That's the same thi --"
"Thank you for the help, Jackson! If I ever need to ask another question, I will hunt you down!" replied Valerie, easily strolling away while tossing a wave over her shoulder. Unbeknownst to her she was walking the completely opposite way of Ghost Town - though he wasn't exactly standing next to her destination. Clapping her hands together, she nodded. "Alright. New mission... find food," she muttered, listening to her stomach growl over the chatter of the market. Looking over her shoulder, she looked for Jackson but instead found Ghost Town who towered over the people just as much as her. Smirking, she laughed. "Oh. So he decided to grow up, eh," she commented.

ooc; sorry if that seemed rushed. i just tried to keep val in character while talking to jackson but it was hard because i feel like she doesn't have a tolerance for idiots and toys with them... not saying jackson is an idiot.

"Ah come on." He groaned. "Emili." He called after her. Idiot. He thought to himself as he walked forward, trying to catch up with her. Stupid idiot. He frowned. His thoughts then wandered as to question where Ghost-Town was. He was still missing, that's all Daniel could think of. He finally caught up with Emili, and walked beside her. There was an awkward silence, with a lingering spite that Daniel could tell was coming from Emili. "Ghost-Town isn't back yet." Daniel said, trying to change the mood.

Emili did not turn to meet Shepard's eyes. Instead she said curtly, "You have a rather annoying program that seems to make you insistently point out the obvious Lieutenant." She increased her speed for a moment then realized that she was being completely irrational. She was being human. She burned inside at the realization. She was becoming increasingly more human every moment she spent with these fleshy Patriots and their kind. She was an AI, not a human. She was not supposed to 'feel' she was supposed to compute. Everything felt so wrong now, and on top of that she felt shame and guilt at her reaction.

William had had to contain his laughter as Dex continued to outwit the man she was talking to. Indeed she was very good at that, he had personal experience. As she moved away he moved to follow her. Yet she turned around just as he was about to move and called out what she had said. William's mouth twisted up ever so slightly before he strode easily to her side.
"Well, the way I see it is if you're old enough to grow up then so am I," he replied sort of laughingly. "Plus," he started again, "There's only three of us left. I can't let you and Shepard get all the action now can I? I think I might end up making a good meat shield on your quest for self discovery. Perhaps even find my purpose along the way." He smiled, well as much as William could anyway, at her before falling in beside her. "I heard you mention food, care if I join?"

"Well, the way I see it, you were the last to, making me the eldest and you the youngest," shot back Valerie with ease. As he continued speaking, she nodded. "Self discovery. That has a nice ring to it. I like that," she murmured to herself with a nod. Yeah, discovering who I am. I like that. Raising an eyebrow, she smirked. "Hn. I don't know. Maybe not. I can't have you eating all my food," she replied, taking a shot at him. With a short laugh, she threw her head back. In the back of her mind, she had the feeling of relief washing over her previously hazardous thoughts. Punching him lightly on the shoulder, she grinned. "I'm joking. Of course. I'm just getting what I need, though. There's no compensation for food here... so I'm only taking the necessities. Carbs, vegetables - all that good stuff. Plus, with the lack of sunlight, vitamin D is extremely important." Smiling, she shrugged.

Shepard tried to catch up with her. "Look I'm sorry for what I said! I didn't mean for it to come out that way!" He sighed, feeling as if he couldn't do anything to better his situation. "Please don't hate me for saying something stupid." He said desparately, which seemed extremely out of character for him. Realizing what he was doing, he quickly stopped and frowned, his face flush. He was supposed to be the stone wall lieutenant, who also was a harc-case and could beat his way through anything if he desired to. Or at least Daniel thought. His frown softened as he thought more and reflected on himself and what he had done in the past. When the Patriot squad was first formed. It was only a week ago. The very people he expected to be selfish and unworthy of his trust, now he had trusted them with his very life. He would do anything to stop harm from them, only grudging to admit it. A sigh escaped his lips as he thought about all the mess they had stumbled upon. "We shouldn't even he alive." He said, without realizing he said aloud.

William took the shots to the shoulder with ease though overly dramatized them and acted as if they really hurt, not saying they didn't. He looked at a few of the stalls they passed saw a few food that she might have liked to store up on, "We could start here if you're not too picky." Some of the foods looked strange and were of varying colors. Like Dex said, there was no sunlight down here and thus plants would be hard to keep. However he had seen a few provinces that had large UV lamps to sun certain plants. From what he observed here they grew plants that didn't really need much sunlight to begin with and could stand the harsh cold temperatures. The animals they kept seemed to be sheep and varying small grazing animals that ate less than cows but could also provide the material they needed to make their necessary clothing.
He turned to Dex for a moment, "Heck, while we're out here you might even be able to find yourself something pretty to wear." He laughed easily, though secretly he would have liked to have seen Dex in some nice flattering clothing. Although he quickly hid those thoughts in the back of his mind. That's the last thing she needed right now, another dumb guy drooling over her easy good looks.

Emili didn't stop when she heard his footsteps fall behind. Yet her good hearing managed to allow her to hear Shepard's last words. She stopped mid-stride and looked over her shoulder. He stood there, almost looking pathetic. The AI again felt bad about how she had been acting. She would have sighed if she could, but seeing as she lacked the lungs that could actually preform the task she remained silent. Slowly she turned back and stood in front of him. She spoke softly to the man, "We should find the others."
