"That they - oh, hold on. That's the door. I'll get it." Standing slowly, she moaned. "Ah, why'd I sit like that?" Turning towards Emili, she smiled. "You can't feel pain. That's a good thing!" Shuffling towards the door, she opened it. Facing Ghost Town, she raised her eye brow. "Why're you knocking? You can just come in, you know," she chided softly, then shuffling back to her seat beside Emili. Perching on the couch again, she brought her knees back up to her chest. "And Emili, love isn't all it's cracked up to be. You can love someone too much sometimes," finished Valerie decidedly.

William stood in the doorway until Dex opened it. He lifted a brow at her words before following her. When she sat back down on the couch he listened to her words. A small snort escaped him before he said, "Love? My, did I miss something good?" He turned to look at Emili only to see that the AI looked rather depressed. William frowned and took a half step forward. "She alright?" he asked turning to Dex.

Emili said nothing as Ghost Town entered. She remained silent until he asked Dex his question. Emili waved him off with her hand, "I am fine Commander." She turned back to Dex and smiled, "Thank you Agent Dex. You've been most... informative." She slouched back in to the couch and thought for a moment. Who knew that she would be exchanging words on such a delicate topic with Dex? Emili remembered the first time the Bio-Agent had seen the AI's body. Only disgust and contempt could be found in the woman's eyes. Now she was being rather friendly. Emili liked that.

Turning to Emili, she offered a light smile and put a hand on her shoulder. "You see what I mean? Anyways, it's no problem. If you have any questions, I'm here for you." Turning towards Ghost Town quickly, Valerie shot back in a monotone voice with an expressionless face, "Yes, you did. We were talking about the love lives we suddenly created in a span of three days where none of us spoke." Snorting, Valerie raised an inquisitive eyebrow. Slowly sobering, she placed a concerned look on her face with no effort - an action that would have taken her some time to conjure up a couple weeks ago. "But, are you hurt or something? Or do you need to talk? Because I'm all ears. Seriously." Taking his hand in hers and placing her other hand on top, she nodded and decided to ruin the moment. "Don't worry. I'll be the wedding planner." She had a mocking smile though there was something else in her gaze - hurt? panic? defeat? - that held there. Patting his hand, she laughed. "Joking, joking." Despite that, she didn't let go of his hand, whether consciously or unconsciously.

"Some how I feel a bit left out." Daniel mumbled as he pushed his way through Dex's door, and looked over from Dex, to Emili. He may have had quarrels with Ghost TOwn, but he didn't really have a problem with Dex, save for the fact that he was a bit afriad of her. Dex could punch Daniel in the chest and his heart would explode, or Daniel thought anyways. He smiled when he looked over to Emili. "I think you two have had enough girl bonding time." Daniel chuckled, trying to be funny, then when he realized nobody was laughing with him, he immediately stopped. "Okay I'm done here." He said, with a bit of hurt pride and frustration.

Emili smiled at Dex, she was very helpful right now. The AI was thankful that the woman no longer despised her presence. "Thank you," she murmured, "I will be fine for now." She stood from the couch and moved slowly toward the door, "Unless I am needed for something else, I might as well go to my room." She sent another smile to Dex, "Tell Jackson I wish him well the next time you see him. He was rather... interesting." She moved past Shepard and said nothing to him. His dumb joke had no exactly tickled her funny bone, even if her body had had a funny bone it wouldn't have. Instead she sent the man a pitiful look and motioned for him to leave the two alone.

William narrowed his eyes at Dex. She had suddenly become rather spazzy. He sent a glance toward Emili, the AI looked like she had regained her composure. As she passed by William listened to her words. Suddenly he tensed the mention of Jackson. He remembered the man as someone from the market that Dex had been speaking with. Jealousy sudden flared within him. So they had met with the man again. William shifted from foot to foot. He turned to look at Dex and muttered, "Looks like your the one who needs a wedding planner. You've been awfully friendly with that fella Jackson." Instantly he regretted his words. He looked down at his hand where Dex still kept ahold of them. Dang, he was in for it now if she was not in a good mood. He looked up in to her eyes and smiled sheepishly, "Sorry, that was childish of me." He gently squeezed her hand, "Try not to be angry with me. I'm delicate."

Clucking her tongue, she watched the others walk out. Then raising her eyebrows, she asked, "Childish?" Snorting, she gave him a borderline affectionate smile. "I'm sorry that was far from childish. Many people have been speculating that." Throwing her head back in an almost-icy laughter, she looked at the hearth and then offered a small smile. "Sorry to burst your bubble but Jackson's not my kind of guy. He is a good friend, though I doubt you've actually met him. He's in charge of Shadow. Fun to make fun of, too. Has the funniest reactions." Her voice when recalling was wistful. Pausing for a moment, she cracked a grin and snickered. "And delicate? Please, Ghost Town, spare me from your awful attempts at joking. It's almost as bad as my firearms skill."

William grinned in relief when she blew off his jealous remark. He gave her an almost puppy like smile as she continued to talk. When she got to the delicate part, his mouth twisted in to a devilish smile, "Oh you aren't that bad at firearms. Sure you don't know which end is the one that goes boom, but hey, its not that bad." He gave a short laugh, dismissing Jackson from his mind. He didn't care to think about the other man. Instead he looked the apartment door which the other two had gone through. It was still open and William frowned. "Honestly, does no one know how to shut a door? Its cold outside." Another thought passed through his head. If he closed the door, he'd be here with Dex all by himself. He didn't know whether that was good or bad. He had never felt like it should be a bad thing before. They had been at each other's throats, or sort of anyway. Now he felt nervous being here with her alone.
Clearing his throat, William turned back to Dex, "About the future..." He fell silent for a moment, his statement was vague. Vague enough to make him want to change the subject to one of the heart, but he didn't want to scare the woman. Not when she was actually warming up to him. "The future of the mission I mean," he added, "Gloria expects us to be at our bests. From what she said three days ago, our mission is going to start tomorrow before the sun rises." A sly smile spread on his face, "If the sun ever rose underground that is. Then we get aboard the Panthera and go." He looked to their hands, intertwined, "I just want to make sure that... That you'll be care. Ah, heck, what am I saying." He glanced up at her eyes, "You're the most careful person on this dang team." The black haired man let out a short laugh, "Just make sure you don't get a bullet hole in some vital part of your body, eh? If anything you'd be skinny enough to hide behind my sorry hide. I'd make a good meat-shield."

"Aah. No one really does close the door," muttered Valerie, staring at the ajar door with glazed over eyes. Muttering something about murder and getting sick, her eyes narrowed as they stared at the hearth again. Frowning at his warning, she looked up at him. "Don't worry about me, worry about yourself. This is war, not 'protect-everybody-I-love'. As much as I'd love to save everybody... It's just not possible." Looking into her gaze unwaveringly, she had a determined look on her face. "We're strong and we'll live through this." As she spoke there were what-if's hanging in the air that neither of them felt safe to breach. "And we wouldn't want your pretty little self to be filled with bullet holes, would we?"

William shifted at her 'protect-everybody-I-love' comment and looked away. A small grin spread on his face, "Oh and we wouldn't want my pretty face filled with holes. You're right. As always." He laughed a little and looked at the hearth with her. He stood there a moment, not wanting to disturb the peace of the room. Yet he knew he couldn't stay here, as much as he wanted to. He couldn't pursue anything with Dex, even if he had the courage to. She was right, this was war. He couldn't protect her, not all the time anyway. He needed her to be at her best and if he was fussing over her every moment, how could she get anything done. No. He needed to let her go. A sharp pang stabbed his heart at that thought. He didn't want to let her go, but he had to. He sent one last glance down at their hands, the image burning in to his mind. "I should let you get some rest and relaxation. We've got a big day tomorrow," he said softly as he brought her hands up leveled with his chest. He patted them with his free hand and stared at Dex's face. A sad smile touched his lips as he said, "Until tomorrow."

ic;
Noting the sad smile on his face, Valerie frowned. "Be happy. Who knows. Maybe it'll end sooner than we think." Retreating slowly, she offered him a soft smile, ushering him out the door. "Now then, same goes for you. Get some well-deserved rest, Ghost Town. I expect to see yiu fully energized. Just. Don't forget I have a temper when I wake up, yeah?" Leaning on the doorframe, she laughed lightly and touched his hand once more for a fleeting moment before retreating. "So. Until tomorrow." Smiling softly, she closed the door. She was tired and an unexplainable giddiness had set over her. She was happy.
